A banquet is a large public meal or feast, complete with main courses and desserts. It usually serves a purpose, such as a charitable gathering, a ceremony, or a celebration, often followed by speeches in honor of someone.

Varieties of Banquets

There are many different occasions that call for banquets; therefore, many varieties of banquets can be found. Banquets can be used for business purposes, social purposes, or simply for educational and recreational purposes. There are also many levels of banquet formality. For example, banquets are commonplace among royalty, but are also popular in high schools as an introduction to formal dining. Also, banquets among businessmen are greatly beneficial and assist in the finding of business partners.

History of Banquets

Banquets have been used as a formal occasion for thousands of years. Kings during medieval times frequently threw banquets for special events, such as birthdays or holidays.
